This is the first of what I hope will be many blogs about our ADVENTURE 4 Eli.
"A journey of a thousand miles began with a single step." - Confucius
We have just begun looking into something we NEVER expected to do... ADOPT! We currently have four birth children: Cory James (19), Drew Jacob (17), Zoe Bell (14) & Levi Joel (10). Each of our children are a blessing, and each has their own story and lesson of faith we've learned one way or another. Steve & I will celebrate our 22nd Wedding Anniversary on Nov 20th. Steve recently retired from active duty military service after 22 yrs in the US Air Force. We have been quite content with four kids, and had planned NO MORE. But when God calls you to do something, you might kick and scream a little, but you eventually obey and look forward to the many blessings that follow. Although we have many questions and uncertainties, we have FAITH that what God wills for our family will happen IF we simply walk out the adventure in faith.
At this time we feel a leading towards finding an orphan boy age 7-10 yrs old from China. We have found an agency to be our tour guide on this adventure: that is Children's House International. We are praying about several possible boys, and waiting for God to show us our son. At this point we have only submitted a pre-application and received a few boys files. Oh, and looked at a ton of pictures. :) We do not know all that lies ahead or even much at all at this point... except that we are trying to be obiediant followers of Jesus Christ. And as we begin the real paperwork & fundraising, we will appreciate all prayers and support anyone can offer!
God bless,
Sherry & family
This was our family's adventure to bring Eli home. But if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans. “The LORD shall add to me another son.” Gen 30:24 And so now this is our family's adventure to bring Eli & Kai home. As we're adopting both boys into our family forever. An adventure is defined as an exciting or unusual experience; it may also be a bold, usually risky undertaking, with an uncertain outcome.
Jesus said “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” - Mark 9:37
WOOHOO! Welcome to the adventure of adoption! It is an amazing and wonderful roller coaster ride and you will be amazed at all God does during it! We are hear praying and cheering yall on and can't wait to meet Eli when he comes home! WOW WOW WOW! We share another bond now! So happy to watch God use yall in a mighty way!

ReplyDeleteI just saw your post on Advocate for Waiting Children Yahoo Group and not 2 minutes before saw a comment on the new photos section about a little boy, George with Eagles Wings who is on the shared list. I just had to share how adorable he is, my heart skipped a beat when seeing his photo and reading about him. Maybe he is the boy you are looking for? He is #1331 on newest shared list in the Yahoo Group files and birthdate 7/13/06 and his photo is in Eagles Wings folder in that group. He is also at http://www.eagleswingschina.org/pages/eagles-wings-3-4/eagles-wings-3/children.php
ReplyDeleteCongrats on beginning this amazing journey!
